🎙️ Episode 12 — Ten Brick Wall
In this episode, we return to the Green Line in central Nicosia and uncover the quirky but telling story of the “Ten Brick Wall” — a small UN peacekeeping dispute that became a powerful metaphor for Cyprus’ divided history.
From there, we trace the events of 21 July to 16 August 1974: the ceasefires that failed, the Geneva talks that collapsed, and the full-scale Turkish offensive that reshaped the island. Families fled, refugees filled the roads, and the UN buffer zone as we know it today was born.

Opening Greenline Tale: Spear Alley
Main Theme: This episode covers the events of the coup in Cyprus, July 15th 1974, and the subsequent days that follow leading to the Turkish military invasion of Cyprus. The first 24 hrs of invasion is then discussed and the actions of the protagonists, as well as the impact for ordinary Cypriots caught between the conflicting sides.

Main Theme: This episode covers the key events preceding the invasion of 1974. We discuss the political escalations, how Turkey and Greece nearly go to war on numerous occasions.
